“Cebolla” Collection

Like an onion, a key ingredient in Mexican Cuisine, these constructed images reflect the many layers of life and curiosities encountered whilst Mexico. Using an analogue camera as a tool and double/triple exposures as a technique, these compositions overlay different objects and activities in one frame. Unconscious biases and assumptions are easily carried through photography, especially through the “tourist” lens. These images are by no means a representation of Mexico, it’s people or culture. They capture what my eye as an artist is drawn to: a contrast between natural, ephemeral, artificial and permanency.
